Description

The Lawrence Arts Center and LMH Health are seeking artists from the Douglas County area for a juried group exhibition. This juried show seeks artists who have used art and creativity to help in their healing journey. This unique exhibition opportunity aims to bridge art with personal storytelling. Selected works will be displayed with each artist’s story at one of the two LMH gallery locations.

This exhibition aims to promote healing, wellness, and increased engagement among patients, families, staff and the community by embedding community art throughout LMH Health facilities, which can be helped by artists sharing their artwork and stories.

Application Requirements
  • A maximum of 3 original works may be entered for jurying. Accepted artists will have only their highest-scoring work in the show.
  • Diptychs or triptychs should be submitted as one piece, with the image showing the entire work.
  • Submit one JPEG image per piece entered. File size may be no more than 5 MB.
  • This exhibition is for 2D works only. Artwork may not exceed 48 inches in width or height, including frame.  Artwork must be ready to hang with wire and sturdy enough for normal handling.  Works must be wall-ready.
  • Artists are asked to submit a short description of how art helped in their healing journey.
  • Entries must be submitted through the online form.
  • Applicants must be 18 or over and a Douglas County, Kansas resident.

Images of accepted works may be used at the sole discretion of the Lawrence Arts Center and  LMH Health for promotional purposes, including but not limited to the invitation, website usage, or on a subsequent year’s prospectus. The image will include artist attribution whenever possible. The artist retains copyright.

$200 | Honorable Mention

Eligibility Criteria
  • Resident of Douglas County, Kansas.
  • Must be 18 or above.

This collaboration between the Lawrence Arts Center and LMH Health is made possible through a grant provided by the Kansas Creative Arts Industry Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
