Dominique Crain, MD
“I chose to become a physician around the age of eight. As a child, I had several medical problems and spent a lot of time in my pediatrician’s office,” she said. “I was completely amazed with how he could do an examination, review my medical history and come up with a treatment plan.”
Dr. Crain began her career as a critical care and pulmonary physician in Olathe before expanding to the role of Medical Director of the respiratory therapy and arterial blood gas lab and Medical Director of Johnson County Community College’s respiratory therapy department.
“I chose pulmonary because of my love for the lungs. They have distinct patterns and their treatments are unique,” she explained. “I also enjoy critical care, specifically the ICU, because every day is different and you get to really focus on how to improve your patients care.”
One of Dr. Crain’s favorite aspects of her job is the ability to improve her patient’s quality of life.
“I want my patients to know that I am here to collaborate with them to find a solution that works best for their short and long term goals.”
Dr. Crain received her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency and pulmonary and critical care fellowship at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. Dr. Crain is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care.
