LMH Health earns Heart Failure Accreditation distinction
The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has recognized LMH Health for its demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients with heart failure. LMH was awarded Heart Failure Accreditation in June 2024 based on rigorous onsite review of the staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with heart failure through pre-hospital care, early stabilization, acute care, transitional care, clinical quality measures and more.
“This accreditation is a testament to the quality of care provided at LMH Health. Heart failure patients often touch the entire continuum of care, including primary care, the Emergency Department and inpatient settings,” said Christina Salazar, MD, FACC, a cardiologist with Cardiovascular Specialists of Lawrence and medical director of ACC Heart Failure Accreditation. “The collaboration between these teams and their commitment to providing exceptional care make this accreditation possible.”
Heart failure is a chronic and progressive condition where the heart is unable to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs for blood and oxygen. Hospitals employing an evidence-based, protocol-driven and systematic approach to managing heart failure can reduce time to treatment and identify and predict high-risk patients while reducing length-of-stay and hospital readmissions.
“LMH Health has demonstrated its commitment to providing Douglas County and the surrounding area with excellent heart care,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award LMH Health with Heart Failure Accreditation.”
Hospitals receiving ACC Heart Failure Accreditation must complete a clinical review process and a rigorous onsite review and monitoring. Facilities earning accreditation meet or exceed stringent criteria and have clinicians and staff who support efforts to improve patient education, outcomes and provide more effective, efficient disease control.
“The heart failure program at LMH Health and Cardiovascular Specialists of Lawrence supports patients in all aspects of their care,” said heart failure coordinator Charis Grosdidier, APRN-C with Cardiovascular Specialists of Lawrence. “We are proud of our collaborative, multidisciplinary approach and being a partner for our patients’ lifelong health.”
