Emergency Department construction begins April 11

Patient, staff and volunteer safety are at the forefront of everything we do at LMH Health. Beginning Tuesday, April 11, construction will begin to increase the capacity of the ED waiting room. This project also provides the opportunity for LMH to increase safety by controlling access from the emergency department waiting area to other areas of the Main Campus. This includes access between the 4th Street Health Plaza and the hospital.

For more information, contact Brian Bradfield, Vice President – Ancillary and Support Services

During phase one of the construction, new double doors and concrete will go into the glass wall in the existing hallway and a railing will be added around the metal grating outside the building. Temporary walls will be placed in the hallway between the ED and the 4th Street Health Plaza. This will permanently cease traffic between the two areas for the public.

Patients seeking care at the Main Campus should enter the building through the following entrances:

  • Patients seeking care in a clinic in the 4th Street Health Plaza: Enter through the 4th Street entrance.
  • Patients seeking care in a clinic in the Anderson Health Plaza or hospital: Enter through the Arkansas Street entrance.
  • Imaging and surgery patients: Enter through the Maine Street entrance.

Confirm the best point of entry by calling the clinic prior to your appointment. You can find additional information about accessing the hospital and clinics at lmh.org/locations.

Further phases of the construction will knock out the existing wall between the current ED waiting room and hallway, increasing the capacity and comfort for patients and family members waiting for care. It will also include adding a badge only access door between the waiting room and hospital, allowing security and staff to control who enters the building. We appreciate your patience as we undertake this vital addition for the safety of our patients, visitors, staff and volunteers.
