What is the Respiratory Evaluation Center at LMH Health?
We’ve received a number of questions about LMH Health’s Respiratory Evaluation Center, a specimen collection site. This is LMH Health’s effort to streamline the COVID-19 screenings that have been requested by local healthcare providers. It is not open to the general public, as specimen collection for COVID-19 testing requires a physician order.
Individuals concerned about COVID-19 should call their primary healthcare provider before coming in. The provider will screen for COVID-19 based on KDHE guidance. If a COVID-19 test is necessary, the physician will place an order with LMH Health, and then direct the patient to the specimen collection site.
It’s important to ensure that resources are allocated in the most effective way possible throughout this situation. Right now, per KDHE guidelines, testing is only permitted when patients meet certain criteria. As such, LMH Health cannot provide testing to members of the community without a physician order. This is why it continues to be important for patients to contact their provider first. Individuals without a primary healthcare provider should contact Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health’s hotline at 785-856-4343.
Please note this is a rapidly changing situation, and this information may be updated in the days to come.
