LMH Health medical staff keeps growing

The LMH Health medical staff keeps growing, with at least 30 new doctors and advanced practice providers joining the community in the last year. LMH Health invites the community to join in welcoming these new providers:
Nicole Apprill, APRN joined the Internal Medicine Group – Pain & Palliative Care in late June. Apprill graduated with a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Kansas in 2012. She serves as a preceptor for advance practice registered nurse students.
Emily Heronemus, DO is joining OrthoKansas in September. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. She received her doctorate degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. She completed her residency from Via Christi Family Medicine, Wichita, and completed her fellowship at Via Christi Sports Medicine, Wichita.
Caitlin Johnston, APRN, joined the Internal Medicine Group in late June. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University in 2012 and earned a doctor of nursing degree from Missouri State University in Springfield.
Fatima Khan, DO opened Unity Medical Clinic in August. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Truman State University in Kirksville and her medical degree at A.T. Still University, also in Kirksville. She completed her residency training at the University of Missouri’s healthcare affiliate, Harry S. Truman VA Medical Center, in Columbia. Dr. Khan most recently worked at the Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Clinic in Leavenworth. Dr. Khan also reads, writes and speaks Urdu at an advanced level.
Hallie Kretsinger, MD is joining the Internal Medicine Group in September. She completed her undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, where she double majored in Germanic languages and literatures and philosophy-neuroscience-psychology. Dr. Kretsinger earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She recently completed her internal medicine residency at St. Louis University Hospital.
Clare Kuhn, APRN joined Reed Internal Medicine in early May. Clare earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing at New Mexico State University and completed a master’s degree in nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Her background includes experience in the emergency department, as well as family medicine and orthopedics.
Leslie Lindsay, PA joined McLouth Medical Clinic in the spring. She graduated in 2013 from Wichita State University with a degree in exercise science, and she earned dual master’s degrees in physician assistant studies and public health in 2017 from Touro University in Vallejo, California. Lindsay is a board-certified physician assistant.
Jason Miiller, MD joined Mt. Oread Family Practice in August. He graduated with a medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha and completed his residency and internship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Miiller also has a master of business administration degree from the University of South Dakota.
Deepak Parashara, MD is joining Cardiovascular Specialists of Lawrence in September. He completed medical school at Dayanand Medical College in Punjab University, India, as well as extensive post-doctoral education in India before beginning an internship at Walthan Weston Hospital and Medical Center in Massachusetts. Dr. Parashara completed an internal medicine residency at the Boston VA Medical Center and a cardiology fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He is board certified in cardiology, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Parashara has served as Chief of Cardiology at the Kansas City VA Medical Center for a number of years.
Matthew Rendel, MD joined Lawrence Spine Care in early August. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Indiana University before completing master’s degrees in biology and physiology from Purdue University and Indiana University, respectively. He earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, and completed a residency in neurosurgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
Jared Schreiner, MD joined Lawrence Emergency Medicine Associates in early June. He earned a bachelor’s degree in human biology from the University of Kansas. Dr. Schreiner earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Schreiner completed an emergency medicine internship and residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
Mykel Sepula, MD joined Lawrence Emergency Medicine Associates in July. She earned her medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield and completed a residency in the emergency department at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
Benjamin Smith, DO joined the Internal Medicine Group in late July. Dr. Smith earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas in exercise physiology. He earned a master’s degree in bioethics and a doctor of osteopathic degree, both from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City. He completed a residency in internal medicine at The Medical Center at Bowling Green in Kentucky.
Stuart Thomas, MD joined Lawrence GI Consultants in early August. He earned his bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Brigham Young University and his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine, and completed an internal medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in San Francisco. Dr. Thomas completed a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
