Healthy Hearts Fair open to community
In recognition of National Heart Month, Lawrence Memorial Hospital is sponsoring a Healthy Hearts Fair on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the hospital, 325 Maine Street.
This free educational event will feature informational displays from many hospital departments and not-for-profit community agencies that promote heart health. Beginning at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. there will be exhibits, prizes, heart healthy refreshments and health screenings, which may include blood pressure, stroke risk, heart attack risk, and height and weight.
Information about heart disease and stroke prevention, diagnosis and treatment as well as nutrition, smoking cessation, exercise, stress management and support services also will be available. No registration is needed to participate in the free health screenings and exhibits.
In addition, a full lipid (cholesterol) blood profile will be available from 7:30 to 10 a.m. for $25 at the door or $20 if registered before Feb. 12. This is a fasting blood test so participants should not eat or drink anything but medications and water for 10-12 hours in advance of having their blood drawn.
