Often, chronic pain conditions can be temporarily relieved with injection treatment. Lawrence Pain Specialists offer Epidural Steroid Injections for conditions like joint, facet joint and sacroiliac pain, and Anesthetic Injections for conditions like leg, foot, neck, chest, arm, abdominal and trigger point pain and nerve blocks.
Spinal Cord Stimulation
After several decades of using Spinal Cord Stimulation therapy, there was a significant increase in research and new technology. Studies now show that it can be used for treatment of persistent pain after back surgery as well as complex regional pain syndrome.
Something unique about this therapy is that it can be tried before your permanent device is placed. The trial for this treatment is simple. Your physician will place the wires from the spinal cord simulation device too you skin. This is done through a simple outpatient’s surgery. The wires come through the skin and attach to an external device about the size of a deck of cards. After this, you’re done!
Your wires stay in for about a week to trial the treatment. To test it fully, there can be programming changes that are made. At the end of the trial, the wires come out and you and your physician will decide if your response was good enough to get the permanent device placed.
