Testing & Diagnosis

Day 29: The results are back from my MRI at LMH – I need a lumpectomy. I’m trying to stay positive but…I’m scared.

LumpectomySo my next step is surgery. I’m going to LMH in a few days for a lumpectomy. Then we’ll know for sure if the nodules are breast cancer tumors, which will determine if I need a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and so on. Crazy to think those things may actually be in my very near future. If you’re following along, you already know the lump I felt at the start of this ordeal isn’t cancer – BUT my surgeon saw two nodules on my sonogram that might be. He ordered an MRI to see the nodules more clearly, and the results revealed a third nodule as well. All three may be cancerous.

If you know me, then you know I like to stay positive and upbeat. I genuinely believe it’s important to be hopeful and happy in trying times like these, so despite my fears – and I’d be lying if I said I’m not afraid – I’m hanging in there and staying as “Megan” as I can possibly be. Come what may, I’m being well taken care of by my providers at LMH along with my family and friends. Thanks for following. Happy thoughts!
