Respiratory Tests and Treatment
When you can’t breathe, nothing else matters. Turn to the doctors at Lawrence Pulmonary Specialists for diagnosis and treatment of your respiratory issues.
How do you test for respiratory issues?
Our doctors may recommend one or more tests to diagnose your breathing issues.
- Bronchoscopy
- EKG
- Endobronchial ultrasound
- Laboratory tests
- Lung function testing, including exercise stress tests
- Sleep study
What education and treatment do you offer?
Lawrence Pulmonary Specialists offers treatment in our clinic as outpatient therapy in conjunction with LMH Health Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Treatment is also available at the hospital with the help of the respiratory therapy department.
Asthma education
The more you know, the better you can manage your disease. Learn what asthma is and how to avoid triggers. We will talk with you about asthma inhalers and spacers. We will work with you to develop an asthma action plan to help control your disease.
COPD education
COPD is a progressive disease that makes it harder to breathe. Learn about the disease, recommended lifestyle changes, healthy habits and exercise to help manage COPD.
Inhaler and nebulizer training
If your doctor prescribes inhaler or nebulizer treatments, our staff will make sure you know how to use these devices correctly. We’ll also talk about why you’re using these therapies and how to clean the devices.
PEP therapy
Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) helps get air into your lungs so you can breathe easier. You’ll breathe out through a mask into a PEP machine. The pressure helps move mucus in your lungs so you can cough it out.
Thoracentesis
Your doctor may use thoracentesis to remove fluid from the space between your lungs and chest wall. This will help ease your shortness of breath, pressure on your lungs and chest pain. We’ll test the fluid to figure out the reason for the build-up.
