Interventional Cardiology
Non-Surgical Diagnostic & Treatment Options of Heart Disease Intervention
For heart attack patients, interventional cardiologists perform non-surgical procedures using a thin, flexible tube called a catheter. Catheter-based procedures (also called percutaneous coronary intervention or PCI) unblock clogged arteries and repair damaged heart vessels. PCI is less invasive than open heart surgery, such as cardiac bypass surgery.
In our newly renovated cardiac catheterization lab, our interventional cardiologists routinely perform other catheter-based procedures including:
- Angioplasty
- Atherectomy
- Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization
- Coronary Stenting
- Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS)
- AngioJet
