Strength & Conditioning Training for Runners

Find training that meets your unique needs as a runner at any age. Join our strength and conditioning coach for hour-long classes one to two times per week to:

  • Gain more speed
  • Improve flexibility
  • Increase endurance
  • Prevent running-related injuries
  • Strengthen bones, joints, and muscles

Running Gait Retraining

Runners of all ages and abilities can benefit from our run retraining program at the LMH Health movement analysis lab in Lawrence, Kansas. You’ll improve your overall running performance and reduce running-related injuries with:

  • One-on-one comprehensive running assessment with a certified physical therapist or athletic trainer, including an interview, muscle, joint, and foot assessment
  • Personalized exercise program to address areas of weakness and improve running mechanics
  • One-on-one follow-up appointments every two weeks
  • Video analysis to track progress
  • Final one-on-one comprehensive running reassessment and video analysis

Your Experienced, Running Experts

Work with the knowledgeable, compassionate team of physical therapists, athletic trainers, and a strength and conditioning coach partner with a physician champion to examine you and make the appropriate recommendations to address your running needs.

Running Physical Therapy Services

Feel your best while you run with:

  • Dry needling – Treats pain and improves movement
  • Graston instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization – Identifies and provides treatment to injured tissue
  • Orthotic assessment – Examines how you walk (gait) and evaluates your need for orthotics to keep your feet healthy
  • Selective functional movement assessment (SFMA) – Identifies and diagnose the source of pain

Meet the RunStrong Team

High School Training

Our sports medicine team provides comprehensive, collaborative care to keep high school athletes in the Douglas County area healthy and performing their best. We’ll work with you and provide care to:
• Rehab injured runners
• Improve running performance
• Provide off-season training
• Provide onsite care at local races

Thanks to a generous donation from RunLawrence, funds are available to pay enrollment fees for incoming or current high school students who normally would not have the opportunity to participate in RunStrong.

If you have a passion for running, an academic GPA of at least 2.5 and are in good standing at school, apply for a RunStrong scholarship [PDF].
